Purpose

To help build a society where persons with disabilities are recognised for their abilities, enabled to lead full and socially integrated lives.

Our Patron

A message from Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Patron of MEF:

“I initiated the Mediacorp Enable Fund in 2016 to bring about a caring and compassionate Singapore, or in my words, a kinder and gentler Singapore. The MEF helps persons with disabilities lead active and productive lives. Our vision is to change society’s perception of them, from seeing only their disabilities to recognising their abilities, promise and achievements.

We should value every Singaporean, whatever his abilities and station in life. Singapore’s greatest resource is our people, and we as a society must ensure that every Singaporean who can contribute is given the opportunity to do so. Most persons with disabilities, if given the opportunities and the resources, can play a meaningful part in our society.”

Frequently Asked Questions

MEF is a community fund which aims to help build a society where persons with disabilities are recognised for their abilities, enabled to lead full and socially integrated lives. Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong is Patron of the Fund. SG Enable, an agency dedicated to enabling persons with disabilities, is MEF's administrator. Mediacorp is the official media partner.

MEF serves persons with disabilities who are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents of Singapore. This includes persons with physical disabilities, sensory disabilities (e.g. visual impairment and deafness/ hearing loss), intellectual disabilities and autism.

MEF focuses on plugging gaps in the disability sector and supplementing areas requiring support. Specifically, monies will be used to:

  1. Provide financial assistance to persons with disabilities to support them in fulfilling their aspirations and in meeting last mile needs.
  2. Fund employment programmes that help persons with disabilities to maximise their learning and work potential, and enable them to lead more independent lives.
  3. Fund community support initiatives to build a more caring and inclusive society.

MEF is solely dependent on donations and sponsorships from the general public, foundations, private as well as government linked corporations and institutions to function.

We believe strongly in the many helping hands approach and the power of the community.
